THIS EPISODE IS GREAT FOR ANYONE WHO:

  • Is trying to have a more peaceful & loving relationship with their body & food
  • Has struggled, or is currently struggling with an eating disorder
  • Wants to raise their children to feel empowered around food & their body
  • Is looking for ways to be kinder & gentler on themselves

IN THIS EPISODE WE DISCUSS:

X The single comment that set her eating disorder in motion

X  Her search to find a purpose that nourished her soul

X What it felt like in her body when she discovered what she felt called to do

X Her path to becoming an expert in recovery

X Using our painful experience to our benefit, and to ultimately serve others

X What is Yoga Therapy and how is it different from yoga class?

X We can’t heal our minds without including our bodies

X Looking at our bodies as whole beings, instead of fragmented parts

X Excavating the self-narratives that we’ve been living by since childhood

X Her experience with intentionally raising two daughters to feel empowered around their bodies & food

X Avoiding using morality language with food

X Not questioning her daughters food choices

X No punishment or rewards with food (avoid tying behavior with the right to eat)

X Intentional language used to describe qualities of bodies (strong, playful, fun, creative)

X The language we use is so influential and powerful to make changes on a neurological, emotional, and maybe even spiritual level

X We can learn so much about our natural rhythms from children (and pets): 1.) Food is not a crisis 2.) Hunger will come back

X  You are capable of everything because of your suffering and inspite of your suffering

X  Reframing how we perceive our ED’s – instead of something evil or bad – what if we look at them with gratitude?

X “When we have a sense of purpose our healing takes off exponentially”

X Having a purpose is anything that brings you joy, or gives you a sense of calm or freedom. Our purpose can be anything that makes us feel nourished.

X Change is a common trigger for many people to elicit suffering – when our beliefs do not align with reality, we suffer. If we resist the reality that change is always happening, then we suffer.

X Ways we can implement yoga philosophies into our daily lives (no matter our experience with yoga)

X Practicing observing our own behavior

X Choosing non-harming options, that show kindness & compassion to ourselves
